Blood cancer patients and families have a wide array of needs; read about some of the CT programs and services that can help.

Ann’s Place – provides free, day and evening counseling, support groups, and wellness activities for cancer patients and caregivers

Camp Rising Sun - provides a safe and nurturing environment to kids who have faced a cancer diagnosis.

Cancer Care - free support programs in Norwalk, CT

Circle of Care Dream Room Makeover program – Redesigns and makes over a child’s bedroom while s/he is undergoing cancer treatment, giving the patient something positive to look forward to when returning home.  Recipients are chosen by lottery four times per year, and must be CT residents aged 4-17.

Colin’s Crew – works to support CT families in which the cancer patient is a child, through 3 programs: Snacks4Kids, Meals4Kids, and Fun4Kids

Connecticut Natural Gas – Financial assistance to help pay monthly gas bills

CTLawHelp.org - Free legal help for families with low incomes; site contains videos, legal help guides with information, and can be accessed in seven languages other than English.  Issues that families fighting blood cancer often need help and information with include:
    Disability financial assistance when a patient is unable to work;
    Energy and utility assistance;
    Family and medical leave (especially important for caregivers who must take time off from work to care for a sick family member).

CT Free Government Cell Phones - information about how low income families can receive free cell phones and services; most plans include texting, voice mail, and caller ID

Dream Come True of Western CT – fulfills dreams of seriously, chronically, and terminally ill CT children ages 4-19, who live in Fairfield, Litchfield, and New Haven Counties

First Connection (through the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society) – provides one-on-one support for patients and family members by trained peer volunteers who have had similar blood cancer experiences

Hair Club for Kids - sponsored by the Hair Club, provides a free wig for any child (17 and under) undergoing cancer treatment.

Help Pay My Bill – Eversource financial assistance programs for customers who need help paying their monthly energy bills.

The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp is dedicated to providing “a different kind of healing” to seriously ill children and their families.

Livestrong at the YMCA - works with cancer patients and survivors on the issue of physical activity during treatment and beyond

Livfree – helps provide CT families fighting pediatric cancer tickets to attend an event of their choice, in the hopes of providing some ‘normalcy’ in their family life

Make-a-Wish CT - grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.

Multiple Myeloma Support Groups – Sponsored by the International Myeloma Foundation, these support groups are offered to patients, caregivers, family, & friends; Multiple Myeloma Support Group of Fairfield County, CT;   CT Multiple Myeloma Fighters Information Group;  

Road to Recovery – transportation program of the American Cancer Society that helps match drivers with patients who need transportation to get to their treatment center

Special Wishes makes a dream come true by granting a wish to children who reside in Connecticut with life-threatening illnesses between the ages of 3 and 21.

Sunshine Kids Foundation - national organization with a local chapter in Connecticut that provides exciting and positive group activities for children and teens with cancer; works with CT Children’s Medical Center, Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital, and Yale Pediatric Specialty Center.

Walnut Hill Community Church Cancer Support Group – Cancer support group located in Bethel, CT
